There is an easy way you can practice space awareness.
You can use your phone.
- Sit in a safe place
– - Set a timer on your phone to 3 minutes
– - Turn the screen black
– - Look at the black screen
– - If you can see your reflection, try to angle the phone in a way you can see only the black surface without any reflection
– - Look at the black screen, and without moving your eyes notice everything around you.
In other words, open your focus and become equally aware of the screen and the peripheries of your visual field. Everything you see should become slightly blurred.
– - Enjoy the silence in your mind, and remember to blink :)
– - Do it for 3 minutes at least twice a day and whenever you want to destress yourself
Just stay aware of space.
I don’t normally use a prop in attention training, so this is something new and different for me.
Overall, this is a great way to get in the habit of softening one’s attention and it doesn’t take much time or a special app.
